How to write an exposè?

Your exposè serves as plan for your master’s thesis and should clearly outline the research gap you plan to address. A good exposè (3 to 5 pages) should contain at least the following information:

  • a motivation and interpretation of the topic
  • the state-of-the-art of research in the field
  • an outline of research gap(s) you plan to address
  • 1 to 3 concrete research question(s)
  • an overview of the planned research approach and methodology
  • the expected results and a discussion of risks
  • a rough timeline with milestones
  • 3 to 5 most relevant references
